This Saturday is Grand National day, and everyone in the office has chosen their horses. We tipped the winner last year so if you’re having a flutter, get a pen and paper and read on!
On Saturday 9th April at 4:15pm, The John Smith’s Grand National Chase gets underway and everyone here will be cheering on a horse and jockey (if we can spot them in the crowd!) Once again most of us have different tactics when it comes to picking a horse but here’s what we’ve gone for.
Cassie picks number 12 every year and this year is no different (she’s feeling particularly lucky this year because she’s jetting of to Las Vegas to get married next month!) so she’s on Irish horse Niche Market.
Ann has gone for That’s Rhythm because it reminds her of the Johnny Cash song Get Rhythm, which she loves. Not sure this horse will be wearing black today though!
Jenny, her mind never too far away from fashion has chosen Oscar Time because it reminds her of high fashion and awards season.
As for me, a lifelong Manchester United fan still basking in the glory of beating Chelsea, I’ve gone for a horse part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, What A Friend.
Finally here’s an interesting tip for the girls;
It’s been a very long time since a mare won the National (the last one, Nickel Coin, was in 1951) but we reckon their time has finally come again and Bluesea Cracker can show the boys how it’s done. She showed all her credentials for this test when winning last year’s Irish Grand National and can bridge a 60 year gap for the sisterhood. Even the trainer’s called MOTHERway. Go girls.
Going to the races?
If you’re spending a day at the races this summer and are still deciding what to wear check out our what to wear to the races tips or speak to a personal shopper at your local Debenhams store, you can also book online.
