Exclusive interview with Eric Jimenez
If you haven’t heard that Naked Palette 2 will be available exclusively online at Debenhams from 9 January 2012, where have you been?
To promote the launch, Eric Jimenez, the head International make up artist for Urban Decay popped in to Debenhams Oxford Street to talk about all things Naked.
I was lucky enough to catch up with Eric and bring you an exclusive interview on Naked Palette and the Naked Palette 2. Here’s what the master of make up had to say…
Sarah Sian: What do you most like about the palettes?
Eric Jimenez: It’s very versatile and the 12 colour choices means you can create your own unique look by blending together multiple colours all in one lightweight palette.
Sarah: Why should every girl have one?
Eric: It’s easy to carry around, it’s fashionable and most of all it will work on all complexions of all ages and for every occasion. What more can a girl ask for?
Sarah: Which shade do you like the best?
Eric: I love them all. From Naked Palette I really like Darkhouse as it’s my favourite for contouring and creating a sexy smokey eye. From Naked Palette 2 I love Busted, it’s a deep and decadent purple shade that gives the smokey eye a coloured twist.
Sarah: What are your top tips for application?
Eric: Using Naked Palette, start with ‘virgin’ and highlight under the brow and inner corner of the eyes. Next use ‘Half Baked’ above the lash line and ‘Naked’ in the crease. Apply ‘smog’ and blend again with ‘Naked’. Finally, finish the look with ‘Hustle’ on the the lower lash line and ‘Darkhouse’ in the crease. Add 24/7 eye pencil in zero to the lower lash line and the inner water line.
Sarah: Can you do a run down of a quick day look using the shades from Naked Palette 2?
Eric: Once all your Beauty Club Girls get their mitts on the palette they should apply ‘Foxy’ from the lash line to the crease. Then add ‘ydk’ into the crease and under eye. Highlight the eyes with ‘Verve’ and add tons of mascara to the upper and lower lashes.
Sarah: Plus a quick night time look?
Eric: Apply ‘Busted’ into the crease and blend it out. Then apply ‘Blackout’ to the outer edge to create that edgy winged look and blend. Add lashings of mascara and line the top and bottom of the lids with zero 24/7.
Sarah: What’s the main difference between Naked Palette and Naked Palette 2?
Eric: Naked 2 is packed full cooler tones versus Naked which features more bronzed tones. You just have to have them both though, but either way there’s an array of endless possibilities to looking good naked. Once a fan always a fan.
Watch this space, the new Naked Palette 2 will be available to buy exclusively at debenhams.com from 9 January.
