The return of the brow for AW10
Backstage at Roberto Cavalli
Hair and make up artist Luke Anthony was working backstage at the autumn/winter shows in Milan and Paris this season, keeping an eye on all the upcoming trends in beauty for next winter. Here’s the what he says we should look out for come AW10…
It seems that the strongest trend was the return of the brow after the last few seasons of bleached or lightened brows. Good news for everyone as having a bleached brow is not something that transcends easily from the runway to the street. With the defined brow back we can all now easily work the look.
It started with the Prada show giving an almost drawn on, vertical-lined strong brow, while keeping the rest of the face quite natural and neutral. Versace also added lashes to the eyes adding a bit more glamour, so you can go from Prada by day to Versace by night, simply adding a set of false lashes. Chloe and Lanvin had the strong brow while also adding a darker eye giving a more dramatic look, while still keeping the lips nude.
Ballenciaga kept the look really modern opting for pastel colours on the brows, something for only the bravest fashion followers to try. Then Louis Vuitton played it safe keeping the make up look completely soft and natural, with no tricks at all. And the final show in Paris at Miu Miu again gave us a strong brow confirming that this will be the trend to follow this winter.
Will you be trying out the strong brows trend?
