Today’s beauty trends inspired by the 80′s
At Beauty Club Towers, Deborah Parrott, Senior Marketing Manager for Beauty Club and myself had an 80′s New Romantics moment.
We were dancing around to Fade Away by Visage. Do you remember this amazing classic? I loved the New Romantics era as it introduced me to the wonderful world of glamour by wearing heavy make-up and outrageously fabulous outfits.
When we watched the video, we realised that most of the recent major beauty trends including red lips, blue, black and red nails, smokey eyes, yellow eyeshadow and false lashes were seen decades ago. If you missed it first time round then here’s how to recreate the 80′s look with a modern, fresher edge.
Eyes were either left bare or shaded in using a bright pop of yellow. Neon brights are a major trend this season so revive the 80′s by experimenting with different colours. Don’t be afraid to colour clash. Enhance the eyes with fabulous false lashes. I recommend:Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette, POP eyeshades in sunny yellow, MAC eyeshadow in Goldmine.
Red lips were a hot beauty trend in the 80′s. To make your lips really stand out coat them with a lip gloss for added wow factor. Line your lips first to stop the colour from bleeding. I recommend: MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick, Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Temper and Illamasqua lipstick in Man Encounter.
Paint your nails with bold colours ranging from the darkest black to the deepest blue and the hottest reds. I recommend: Nails inc Black taxi nail polish, Nails inc Belgrave nail polish, Essie Jam n jelly nail polish, Mavala Satin mini nail polish.
If you’re feeling bold and creative take inspiration from the video below and experiment with face art.
