Vote for your favourite Spring/Summer trend
Whatever your look – sultry and sexy, vibrant and bold or minimalist and nude, you can find a whole host of fab new beauty products to keep you looking on-trend all season long.
This season’s key trends are:
Bright lips is a hot trend this season and was featured on the catwalk shows of Gucci, Fendi and Marni. Orange and red lips are ideal for brightening up your look especially if you’re wearing plain outfits. Alternatively, be daring and clash orange lips with pink nails.
I recommend: Givenchy Gloss Interdit in Succulent Orange, Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Mistress and Temper, Guerlain Collector’s Edition Rouge G de Guerlain in Orange Euporique, Dior Rouge Lipstick in Ara Red, Lancome L’absolu Rouge in Idole
The Glitter effect
Get ready to sparkle this season with glittering eyelids. The 70’s inspired disco-fever glitter look was seen on the catwalks of Giles. This spring/summer glitter should definitely be part of your makeup look, whether it’s just a hint, or fully loaded on, glitter is a must-do trend.
I recommend: Lancome Mini Le Vernis in Disco Silver Eylure – Party Perfect Lashes Illamasqua Illumine Oil in Pulse & Volt, Urban Decay Star dust eye shadow, and Black up Face Glitter
There were washes of pastel all over the catwalks this season. Set against a perfect flawless base, a palette of sorbet and candy colours was applied to the eyes and sometimes even the cheeks. Pastels definitely are fun to experiment with, whether it’s applying just one colour or playing around with many, now’s the time to put your creative head on.
I recommend: Clarins Neo Pastels Eye Colour and Liner Palette, YSL 5 Colour Harmony for Eyes in Parisien Sky, Givenchy Le Prisme Yeux Quatuor in Pastel Model, Benefit Lust Dusters for Eyes & Face in Go Go Girl, Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Soft Shimmer in Foxy.
The catwalks were in a colourful mood this season. Both Christian Dior and Loewe revealed a whole spectrum of bright eye colours on their models from hot pinks, to bright yellows, electric blues and pop-out green. Again, don’t be afraid to experiment with bold textures, contrasting shades and different levels of intensities. Colour everywhere.
I recommend: Illamasqua Lipstick , YSL Gloss Pure Lip Gloss – Pure Hibiscus, Clarins Waterproof Eye Line Pencil – Turquoise, Urban Decay Preen Shadow Box, Star by Julien MacDonald Catwalk Palette
Coat your nails with a rainbow selection of colours. Whether it’s pastel hues in soft pinks, canary yellows, baby blues, cool khakis or more vibrant shades including zesty tangerine and vibrant bold reds, give yourself a colourful manicure. For the perfect finishing touches choose a complementary shade to match your accessories, especially your handbag.
I recommend: Butter London Jaffa Nail Polish, Nails Inc Brompton Road, Essie Van d’go Nail Polish, Givenchy Vernis Please! Nail Varnish in Candide Pink, Filthy Gorgeous Nail Varnish in Jim Jams.
The one colours that always screams summer is pink. This eye-popping bright, was seen on the catwalks of Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Balenciaga. Add a radiant swoosh of pink or peach to the cheeks and lips whilst leaving the rest of the skin matte. Whether it’s soft and subtle or sheer and bright, zing into the season with the most playful shade.
I recommend: Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour, YSL Crème De Blush, Smashbox Blush Rush, Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Guerlain’s Rouge G de Guerlain Sorie Noire Lipstick in Rose Desir or Fuschia Delice.
