The H! by Henry Holland collection for Autumn/Winter arrived in store nice and early and it’s given us in the office lots of inspiration for our new season wardrobes. I was feeling nosy and asked the accessories team which products had been the best-sellers so far - in essence, which are our customers’ favourite pieces from the new collection.

Autumn may be a while away but today it seems like we are having some icky October weather.

Here at Debenhams HQ, we’re already starting to see a few fabulous new-season styles creep so it wouldn’t hurt to start thinking about what to buy for the coming season.

My favourite H! pick of the moment has to be this striped, blue fox scarf jumper which also had a lot of interest at our AW10 press show. It’s available in pink and cream too for a slightly girlier look. Why do I love it? It’s just a really fun piece and everyone in the office is loving the direction of H! by Henry Holland for Autumn.

I can’t wait for the next load of product to arrive… something tells me I’ll have trouble picking just one monthly must-have come August and September.

With the sunshine peeking through the grey clouds again it’s time to get our thoughts firmly back on summer barbecues, picnics and holidays.

To make sure you’re looking cooler than the next girl, we’ve picked out our favourite accessory of the moment from the H! by Henry Holland collection, these fab purple check wayfarers.

It’s a firm favourite shade shape with festival-goers, not to mention the bands that play at them. Henry’s printed take on the classic wayfarer means these  are bang up to date and have that quirky charm that sets the H! collection apart from the rest.

Henry Holland has been doing a mini tour of some Debenhams stores. Thanks to everyone who recently popped down to the Leeds store to see Henry and check out his fabulous collection of clothing and accessories, H! by henry Holland. Check out a couple of pics below..

What to pack, what to wear, which trends to work? When it comes to festivals anything in fashion goes but we reckon it’s all about bold, bright colours and awesome accessories this summer.

The hottest hats: Never forget a hat at a festival especially if the weather’s going to be sunny. Keep safe in the sun or save your hair from a downpour with a stylish trilby or straw hat.

Summer scarves: This summer, a scarf is this season’s essential for updating your outfit.  The H! scarves are more fashion than function but they make a great alternative to jewellery and will keep an evening chill at bay not to mention that you can sit on it in the field too.

Festival footwear: We’re loving worker boots because they’re totally practical but a much more on-trend alternative to wellies. Wear them with chunky socks for all day comfort. If it’s dry then break out the gladiator sandals or funky flip-flops.

Pack a mac: If you’re off to a festival in the UK be prepared for rain. When it rains it generally pours so some sort of waterproofs will be a life-saver. Don’t be shy either; make a statement with striking prints.

Bold bikinis: Wearing a bikini is an ideal option come rain or shine. If it gets grubby it’s much easier to just rinse out and dry and it also takes up less room in your bag than a traditional bra.

Arm candy: Never forget a watch. You’ll want to know what time all your favourite bands are on and when to meet your mates. Everyone in the office is currently lusting after bright plastic ones which are cheap as chips and perfect for summer. Team this with some stacked bangles and all your festival wristbands.

In the bag: An across the body bag with plenty of pockets and zip-up compartments is a festival must-have.

Sunnies: Don’t spend your whole time squinting to be able to see all the action. Grab a pair of wayfarer style sunglasses for that ‘I’m with the band’ look.

When Henry Holland launched a search for faces to put on print to be featured in his H! collection, I’m sure he wasn’t expecting to find a new model for the range but that’s exactly what he did find.

Fiona Kennedy, a photographer (check out her pics here) and musician, caught his eye and here she tells us about her day modelling for H! by Henry Holland swimwear…

“Now usually, one of the things I get up to is photography, so I’m well acquainted with being behind the camera. But for one day, I took a walk on the wild side and ventured in front of the lens to embrace the bikinis, rock the one-pieces and dabble with floral prints to be the new face of Henry Holland’s summer collection.

The day began early; I headed over to the Debenhams HQ, was whisked down to the studio and then greeted by the lovely people who would be styling each look for the day. I was expecting some sort of scene out of The Devil Wears Prada but, thankfully, there was nothing of the sort. I immediately felt at ease.

The first items we shot were little pin-up style dresses. The thing is, I never wear dresses. I’m quite comfortable in my skinny jeans and scruffy shirts so this was quite a new concept for me. I felt like a real girl for once – and I loved it. The dresses were perfect for summer. Very light, airy, playful and a real gem to have over a bikini for when you want to frolic around at the beach in something that doesn’t bare all but would still get those heads turning.

For the first shoot I’ll admit, I did get my Tyra Banks on behind backs and practice some poses in the mirror before emerging from the dressing room but luckily I was given some great direction from the start. Without it, I’m sure I’d have been awkwardly smiling in front of the camera like some sort of spur-of-the moment tourist shot taken in front of Niagara Falls.

After a couple of hours I had let my hair down, relaxed and got in to the swing of things and throughout the day came a whirlwind of Henry Holland creations. More dresses, bikinis, one-pieces, accessories, shorts - you name it. We also tried out Henry’s waistcoats over a few bikinis for press shots– my particular favourite being the little leather number. A sure fire way to create more of an edge and perfect for the festival season.

I’m a huge fan of accessories, and I immediately fell in love with Henry’s gold double dice necklace and the trilby hats in the range. I was slightly apprehensive of the floral bikini paired with the braced shorts on the hanger but once I had the ensemble on it shot up in my must-have list for this summer. A bold splash of floral twinned with the denim shorts was a very good move.

The day flew by and to round it up - I came, I posed, and I think I conquered, all 5’4 of me representing Henry Holland’s master pieces and what a blast I had. So get yourselves down to Debenhams, take a peek at the collection and kit yourself out to look gorgeous in the sun with Henry’s new gear.”

Meet Fiona Kennedy, the face of the H! by Henry Holland high-summer swimwear range.

Spotted by Henry Holland himself, Fiona is set to become the envy of fashion-followers across the country. Henry Holland told us  “Fiona caught my eye immediately with her entry for our original ‘find a face’ competition. She looks lively, happy and fun so I thought she’d be the perfect girl to represent the new H! swim range.”

Fiona entered a competition to have her face included in a one-off print designed by Henry Holland and used on a handbag and scarf in the Autumn H! by Henry Holland range. After seeing her picture, Henry decided to approach her to model his high summer swim range.

Here’s what our swimwear buyer Sasha Nagalingam had to say: “At 5’4” Fiona might not meet traditional criteria for a professional model, but she is beautiful, a natural on set and has a great personality. Looking at the images she produced, you wouldn’t think for a moment Fiona had never set foot in front of a camera.”

Fiona Kennedy says, “I was a little dazed when I got the call - it was completely unexpected.  I’ve never done anything remotely like this before. I’m a secret nerd, with a naturally small frame and never in a million years would I have thought I’d be modeling swimwear, especially for such big names like Henry Holland or Debenhams.

Here’s my top of the tops. The purple giraffe print is really fun and the candy stripe cropped number is just perfect for layering. For easy festival dressing I’m a fan of this black slogan cut-out top which says on it ‘What do you mean there are bands playing?’ So cool!

Can you believe it’s May already… and when the weather warms up we just love to get out our fabulous florals and cute dresses.

Our must-have for this month is the bold and beautiful, multi-coloured ‘Lindsay’ bustier dress. It’s ticking all the trend boxes for this season from the underwear-as-outerwear bustier detailing to the acid bright florals which are bound to be a favourite at festivals this summer.

So… how to wear it? We reckon this  dress would look fab with a casual denim shirt layered over the top, throw on an across the body bag and for everyday styling a pair of pumps is the perfect option for footwear. Oh, and don’t forget the sunnies because we’re hoping this summer will be a scorcher!
