When Henry met Debenhams…
I met Henry over a coffee way back in January 2009 to chat about him joining Designers at Debenhams. There was an immediate creative spark between us and before I knew it we were all systems go. It was barely a few weeks after out initial meeting and he was sketching designs for the first collection!
Fast-forward a few weeks and Henry came in to meet the rest of the design team at Debenhams and everybody from the print department to accessories were inspired by his enthusiasm and ideas; Henry mania swept across the building!
Henry then compiled some great fab design boards, his inspiration being ‘my so called life’. We worked on colour and print direction and his sketches and ideas soon came to life. Next I was off to India, Hong Kong and Turkey to bring the designs to life. It was an exciting few months.
I can’t wait for the collection to come to life in store. In fact, I may be so excited that I’ll be in store at midnight to help set it up. But fashion moves fast… we’re now working on next season which is already looking amazing.
We’ve all loved working with Henry, he has us in stitches in every meeting. His sense of humour and fun approach are what this collection is all about.
The collection is incredibly cool and we all have our favourite pieces. Mine are the re-worked army surplus jacket, the skinny jeans and the band T-shirts; perfect for this summer when hitting the festivals.
