Now is the time to change your skincare to get a spring glow. Here’s what the beauty editors from our favourite magazines use…

Overnight Radiance

Charley Williams-Howitt, Beauty Director, Woman: A lit-from-within glow has become de rigueur for spring beauty. And you don’t need to be 21 again to get the look! Simply switch to products that deliver filter-esque radiance in a flash. Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Mask-in-Oil is the ‘top coat’ to the original ANR Serum. Used overnight, it locks in ANR’s benefits and nourishes and rebuilds your skin, so by morning it’ll look radiant with minimal effort.

Conceal, highlight and contour with the iconic YSL Touche Éclat illuminating pen, and use a bronzer applied in a ‘3′ shape to replicate great – not fake! – skin. BareMinerals Invisible Bronze adds a natural warmth to your complexion.

Vitamin Boost

Fiona Embleton, Beauty Editor, Marie Claire: Now that the weather is warming up, there’s more humidity in the air so you need fewer oil-based products. I’m switching from a balm to a lightweight cleanser such as Dior Hydra Life Lotion to Foam Fresh Cleanser as it whisks away impurities without overloading the skin.

A serum packed with vitamin C is an effective way to make winter-weary skin look fresher. Simply add two drops of Clinique’s Fresh Pressed Daily Booster With Pure Vitamin C to a dollop of moisturiser to ensure you get a potent dose of this skin-brightening vitamin.

As the mercury rises, so do pollution and UV levels so finish with a swipe of Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Hydrating Shield over the whole face before stepping outside.

Press Pause On Oil

Fiona Mckim, Beauty Editor, Woman & Home: Spring invariably has an ‘out with the old’ vibe (swapped your lunchtime soup for salad lately?) and sating that craving is smart where skincare’s concerned. First, it’s brighter. Ideally we’d all wear sun protection 24/7, 365. Realistically, now is do-or-die time. I love the new Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream SPF30, which hides muscular SPF in a silky texture.

Warmer weather also re-jigs your oil balance; it’s amazing how much comfier dry skin feels. Swap rich serums for Dior Hydra Life Deep Hydration Sorbet Water Essence and a spritz of Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. If too much oil is the problem, fight fire with fire using Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil, which tells sebaceous glands there’s enough oil, thanks very much, and so keeps natural production in check.

Soothe and Reduce Redness

Madeleine Spencer, Beauty Editor, InStyle: The key to reducing redness in your skin is to treat it gently – but effectively. Cleanse with something that won’t strip the surface of your skin, such as Elemis Biotec Cleanser, and follow with a toner that contains acid, such as Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner, to lower the pH of your skin and therefore reinforce the all-important acid barrier.

After cleansing, moisturise with a serum and try a soothing oil. Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Shield and Korres Wild Rose Face Oil are both brilliant. Finally, if you have spot-related redness, use a clearing mask weekly like GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment. And, whatever your skin type, wear an SPF daily – Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield is a good choice.

Superfood For The Skin

Lydia Thompson, Beauty Editor, Look: As the temperatures rise I start to apply less make-up and swap my foundation for a BB cream. Because of this I step up my skincare regime to improve my complexion. I use Murad Age Reform Exfoliating Cleanser to give my skin a real boost each morning. It looks noticeably more radiant and is gentle enough to use every day.

If I want to forgo a base, I reach for an oil to give my skin a natural-looking glow. I love Elemis Superfood Oil as it’s packed full of omegas and antioxidants, which are great for a more healthy looking complexion. As my skin is more on show in the spring I apply masks whenever I can – at least once a week. I like Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask, and Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask is my ultimate! I also try to give my face a little workout each morning with massaging techniques.
