Last night, Urban Decay released the devastating news that they would be discontinuing the first Urban Decay Naked palette. It was the palette that started the iconic Urban Decay Naked palette series and is one of the best-selling, well known makeup palettes period. There isn’t a makeup junkie that hasn’t heard of the Urban Decay Naked palette, you only have to type the name of the palette into Youtube to see videos spanning from a year ago to a whopping seven years ago. It’s a palette that’s truly stood the test of time, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end.

For many people, myself included, the original Naked palette was the first palette they ever bought. Its creamy mattes, chic nudes and wearable shimmers have had us reaching for it again and again. Its buttery, blendable formula made it easier to learn how to nail the smokey eye and for a lot of us Naked doesn’t only have a special place in our makeup bags, but also in our memories, making it no surprise that the news almost broke the internet.

Urban Decay’s founder Wende Zomnir penned an emotional tribute on her Instagram account, saying “Saying goodbye to the OG NAKED is bittersweet. We shared a history. We shared a soul. I will forever miss her, but plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in NAKED’s memory and honour — just wait and see.”

The passing of the original Naked palette has officially made it a collectors item, so whether you want to stock up for yourself or give the makeup lover in your life a truly priceless gift, you’ll absolutely want to get your hands on one as soon as possible.

The good news is, Debenhams will not be discontinuing the palette until early next year, so there’s still time to get Naked before it’s gone for good and we say a final ‘Blend In Peace’ to the original palette.
