With London Fashion Week drawing to a close, we looked back at our favourite beauty looks. From expensive manicures to bare faces, autumn/winter 17 is all about enhancing natural beauty and going wild on the eyes…

Eye Spy

The eye took centre stage this fashion week, but forget the humble eyeshadow palette, this season’s eye is ultra-creative. With glitter, liners and coloured mascaras enhancing models’ eyes; makeup artist’s used innovative techniques to apply colour to the lids. Benefit’s Head Makeup Artist used GALifornia blusher as a liner, while MAC paint sticks were used at Mary Katrantzou.

Bare Faced

Foundation is gone and concealer is in. Instead of heavily contoured and highlighted complexions, makeup artists reached for perfectly matched concealers to correct imperfections. Skincare preparation is key to this trend, with Erdem using luminous creams, while the models at J.W. Anderson had skincare massages with moisturiser.

Lived-in Lips

The red lip has been given a touch of nonchalance; rather than a perfectly lined pout, lips were gently rubbed for a lived-in, ‘end of the night’ vibe. Seen at Toshop Unique, Temperley London and Preen, makeup artist’s used fluffy eyeshadow brushes to buff out lipstick and give a softer effect. For a high fashion, grungy edge, lipstick was buffed slightly over the edge of the lips.

Expensive Manicures

Continuing the trend of enhancing what you’ve got, nails were left bare or polished with pale pink to highlight the natural nail colour. Nail artists at Erdem and Mary Katronzou looked to Nails Inc’s nourishing range of oils to ensure nails were in optimum condition prior to polish. Painted in hues of petal pink, nails made a subtle, sophisticated statement on the catwalks.
