It’s Men’s National Grooming Day this Friday, so in celebration of the day we’ve rounded up our favourite male celebrities and how to get their facial hair style- from clean shaven to rugged beards.

Whether you love a smooth shave like Oliver Cheshire or prefer to keep a little stubble like David Beckham, here’s your step-by-step guide to every shave you’ll need.

Clean Shaven

Probably the hardest look to achieve; a clean shave requires patience, time and maintenance.

1. The Prep

Cleansing is essential to ensure the smoothest shave, as it lifts hairs that often get missed. Using a shaving foam or gel will help blades get super close to skin and reduce friction- meaning no more nasty shaving rash.

2. The Shave

A wet and dry shaver is a great option as it enables you to have close wet shaves when needed but maintain your shave with quick dry shaves too.

3. The Finish

A clean shave can often leave skin sore and inflamed, so make sure to use a balm to soothe and calm redness post-shave.

Smart Stubble

David Beckham makes this style look effortless and with a few simple tips it can be effortless for you too.

1. The Prep

Make sure that your skin is clean by cleansing first. Then, if any hairs are too long, trim the length with beard scissors.

2. The Shave

A beard trimmer is your friend here, use it to get a smarter look. Don’t forget to finish with a precision trimmer to neaten around the jawline.

3. The Finish

This suave look needs an equally attractive scent so spritz on a little of aftershave, like John Varvatos Dark Rebel, for an irresistible finish.

Rugged Beard

This looks like the easiest to achieve but it could easily step into scruffy territory. Keep your beard in check with these steps.

1. The Prep

Sounds strange, but beards should be shampooed and conditioned just like hair to maintain shine and cleanliness.

2. The Shave

Trim the main part of the hair with a beard trimmer and use a razor go over the neck and jawline.

3. The Finish

Finish with a beard oil to soften hairs and add a light fragrance.
