With London Fashion Week over and the fashion jet-set on their way to the next fashion week city, we’ve reviewed the shows for the most covetable beauty trends.
From rock ‘n’ roll eyeliner to perfected skin, these are the beauty looks you’ll be wearing next season. But there’s no need to wait till spring, we’re showing you how to master the key beauty looks right now.
We’re rooting for the bold, bouquet of lips spotted in shades of poppy orange, fuchsia pink and tropical hibiscus at Roksanda and Mary Katranzou. But it wasn’t just floral inspired shades that took the limelight, Preen took the trend one step further by sealing the lips of models with pressed flowers. The beauty statement confirmed that petal lips really are the next big thing.
Get the look: Sealing your lips with flowers too much? A simple slick of lipstick in a bold shade is all you need to steal the attention. Use lip liner for a sharp edge and ensure the rest of your face is clean for the chicest look.
Rock ’n’ Roll Girls
It wasn’t just petal lips that surprised us; unusually, dark smudgy eyes we’re prolific on the spring/summer catwalks. The grungy yet glamorous look was rocked by the ‘it’ girls at Julien Macdonald and House of Holland. The rebellious trend is all about a lived-in look with a touch of je ne sais quoi.
Get the look: Buff and blend shadow and liner for a cool rock girl look. Keep skin and lips nude so that eyes can take centre stage. Alternatively, a simple stroke of black liner in the waterline is a more wearable and subtle nod to the trend.
The New Natural
Spring’s standard dewy skin trend was elevated to an elegant, healthy look with petal-pink blush, subtle highlights and rosebud tinted lips. Models at Jasper Conran, Emilia Wickstead and Erdem wore the ‘new natural’ look. It’s all about looking the best version of yourself, ensuring skin looks like skin but with a polished finish.
Get the look: For maximum skin radiance, use a primer before applying a creamy foundation. Sweep petal-pink blush over cheeks to give the illusion of health and give lips a subtle tinted sheen. Use the same colour on lips and cheeks for a natural yet polished look.
