While every girl may enjoy flirting with fashion – to varying degrees of success – here at Debenhams we think that when it comes to true style, there is no right or wrong.

In a fabulous age where vintage mixes with high-street and classic combines with the trends, we decided to have a little fun with fashion, giving two top bloggers a simple, classic, yet on-trend, black pencil skirt… and asked them to style it to suit.

All of us think ‘office’ when we think of a black pencil skirt and the standard outfit would be combined with a white shirt. I’m really loving pencil skirts at the moment and this jersey style from Collection is extremely comfy and can be worn to many different occasions.

It has a subtle ridged style and is extremely flattering for pulling in the waist and skimming your hips. For this look I’ve paired it with a bright blue shirt, to give it a pop of colour and less of an office-style feel. I’ve also rolled up the sleeves and tied the front of the shirt instead of tucking it in, to give it more of a casual sense of style. No pencil skirt is complete without a belt so I’ve added this simple studded belt for some bling and to cinch in the waist slightly.

I really love the colours in this outfit and, to complete it, I would probably pair it with black wedges instead of court heels, just to steer away from the office feel.

Black and blue used to be a big ‘no’ but this season it’s a big trend, so I wanted to give it a go for myself.

I teamed the skirt with a pintuck detail sleeveless blouse, with an embellished collar (buttoned right up to show off the detail) and added a blazer with a leather trim for warmth. Patent shoes with gold buckles bring out the gold triangle trim on the blouse.

Do you like the looks? How would you wear yours?
