Free coffee using Foursquare at Debenhams Oxford Street
BY STYLE EDITOR, ON 9 FEB 2010 15:54 EVENTS & OFFERSCOMMENTS
You’ll know that Debenhams is a big fan of social networks (see our Facebook and Twitter badges on this blog). There’s a new kid on the block and we’re getting involved – Foursquare!
Foursquare is a new social network with a difference – use your mobile’s internet access to “check in” at shops, bars, clubs… anywhere you want! You can then see who else visits and sometimes get discounts or free stuff from the owner. The person who visits a location most frequently over a 30 day period gets the honour of being ‘Mayor’.
From today, the “Mayor” of Debenhams Oxford Street is entitled to free coffee whenever they visit. It’s just our way of saying thanks for popping by.
That’s not all though, not everyone can be Mayor and so for all of those unable to keep up with the most regular visitors to Debenhams, we’re offering free coffees every Friday to visitors who have ‘checked-in’ that day on Foursquare.
The offer is being trialled on Oxford Street first, so we can find out how popular it is and whether it would work in our other stores in the UK.
This is something very new for Debenhams and makes us one of the first companies in the UK to use Foursquare for the benefit of our customers. The news was also featured in Marketing magazine here.
How to redeem your free coffee
Go up to the cashier in any of the cafes in Oxford Street and show your mobile’s screen with you as the mayor and they will serve you your well-earned coffee. On Fridays any visitor who shows a check-in screen to the cashier will be able to claim a free coffee. The only limit is a single free coffee per day, so you can come back every week whilst the offer is running.
