Debenhams wins award for charity fundraising

Each year for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Debenhams gets involved and strives to raise huge sums of money for our designated charity, Breast Cancer Campaign. So we were delighted to recently be awarded the ‘Outstanding Corporate Partner Achievement’ award by Breast Cancer Campaign after raising over £2.9 million for breast cancer research.
This incredible amount could not have been achieved without everyone’s hard work throughout the years – that goes for staff, their families and friends, suppliers and you, our customers.
But we won’t stop there and it isn’t just for the month of October that we raise money. Two staff members will soon be taking on the ultimate challenge – a sky dive! Corinne and Claire (above) will be jumping out of a plane at 10,000 ft on 9 July 2011 all in the name of charity. If you want to support them in their quest to raise over £850, you can donate here. Good luck girls!
Not to leave out the boys, we are all wishing the team from head office (pictured below) the very best of luck as they take on the Nightrider challenge on 11 June 2011, for Breast Cancer Campaign. Cycling 64 miles around London in the middle of night, Nightrider is a city tour with a difference, requiring a lot of training, sleep deprivation and dedication. They are at £3,376 so far which is a fab achievement. You can help them raise more money here.
I should also say a big ‘well done’ for all girls from the lingerie team who took part in London’s MoonWalk sponsored by Playtex last month. Taking time out to switch flip flops for trainers and even putting on a bake sale to raise funds for charity – nice work!
