Drew Barrymore weds in maternity chic…

2012 New York City Ballet Spring Gala: A La Francaise

June 2nd 2012 saw Drew Barrymore tie the knot, with art consultant Will Kopelman, in a vintage inspired ceremony in the backyard of her California home.

Deliberately low-key and intimate, the bride told People magazine that the whole day was just “perfect”. Reported to be several months pregnant, another thing that was ‘perfect’ was Drew’s maternity bridal style – and easy enough to channel for we mere mortals who can’t speed dial Chanel…

With images currently exclusive to People magazine, we sadly can’t show off Drew’s style on our blog, but google it and you’ll see a bride literally glowing, with a bump decorated for the day.

True, when it comes to dressing a bride with a bump, empire lines are usually a mother-to-be’s best friend, but Drew Barrymore has never been one to roll with convention – in fashion or otherwise – and that’s why we love her. For Drew’s big day she opted for a Karl Lagerfeld designed organza and muslin gown with full, flowing skirt embroidered with tulle flowers – tied together with a black belt.

Eschewing the trend to dress to disguise a bump, on the contrary Drew’s black belt served to accentuate rather than hide her growing tummy – perhaps the couple’s way of ensuring their child was a big part of their big day?

Here at Debenhams we loved the look – timeless, elegant and classic. Phase Eight have some stunning styles to offer with the organza-inspired style reminiscent of Drew’s bridal chic. A pleated option, complete with belt, is perfect for those who also wish to boost the impact of a bump.

Accessory-wise (and gorgeous groom aside) we loved the vintage-inspired headpiece and jewellery that Drew rocked on her big day. To ‘steal her style’ at Debenhams, we suggest shopping the range of our latest designer for Debenhams, Jenny Packham. No. 1 by Jenny Packham offers a glittering range of jewellery, alongside stunning dresses, perfect for that timeless, elegant and classic feel – just like Drew. Simple studs and a sparkling headpiece worked well for Drew and, if they’re good enough for a Hollywood A lister…

For the pièce de resistance, Drew opted for a delicate veil – a traditional touch we loved. Discover a veil that works for you in long, or short, at Phase Eight – a brand clearly inspired by Drew… or perhaps it was the other way round?

Finally, if you’d like to inject a quirky, modern touch to your classic bridal style we suggest a beaded collar design necklace from Mood. For Drew’s big day, her collar was key to her dress with its oversized style and ruffled detail. Every bride has to pop her own take onto a style, so this beaded necklace is our own style twist.

Who knows… while we hope it’s third time lucky for Drew, if she does make it to husband, and wedding style, number four, we might see this necklace on her too…
