From dazzling red carpet wonders, to tremendously fancy frocks, we’ve been spoiled this year with extremely glam gowns. Here’s our top 10 memorable moments…
‘Best Features Programme’ winner for The Great British Bake Off, Mary Berry, dazzled in a blush coloured floor length gown with a string of her signature pearls. A look we will miss for sure, as this year Mary Berry and the BBC announced Mary’s leaving the programme in its move to Channel 4 next year. Despite the extremely sad day the nation suffered when hearing this devastating news, we’re sure we’ll still see lots of ‘Bezza’ in 2017.
It’s been a huge year for Bella Hadid; with her debut on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk, walking with Gigi as the first pair of sisters on the VS runway and winning ‘Model of the Year’ at the GQ Awards in October. She won this memorable award in style, showing off her bronzed décolletage in a champagne-hued custom Hugo Boss gown. She kept to a minimal sleek style, with basic yet complimenting sandal heels and glitzy jewellery.
Being one of Billboard’s top artist for a record third time and winner of a whopping four BRIT awards, it’s fair to say Adele has been busy. When receiving her BRIT awards, the singer stunned in this sparkly Valentino number. With continuing years of success for the superstar combined with a sold out tour, we’re sure 2017 is going to be another positive year for her.
Who better to have as one of our three stars in our AW16 campaign? In this beautifully embroidered Alberta Ferretti sheer gown worn at this year’s Venice Film Festival, it’s no wonder why. The Czech model, showing us that beauty has no age, starred alongside Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon in some of our favourite Star by Julien Macdonald, Nine by Savannah Miller and Principles by Ben de Lisi pieces to debut our AW16 collection.
The Duchess of Cambridge
The nations favourite Duchess of Cambridge honoured the front cover of Vogue’s centenary issue this year. Photographed in the Norfolk countryside, the Duchess featured in a 10 page shoot in the June 2016 issue; being the first ever magazine to photograph Kate Middleton. Despite the Duchess being styled cool and casual for the shoot, 2016 saw an endless amount of style from K-Mid. Here’s our favourite, looking as angelic and elegant as ever at the London ‘A Street Cat Named Bob’ film premiere.
The beautiful Emma Watson accepted her Inspiration Prize at the 2016 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards back in November, dressed in this incredible Dior gown. Dedicating the win to women all over the world who help others, her award was presented to her by the Harry Potter producer David Heyman. As a young feminist, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and a hugely successful actress, we think this award was well and truly deserved – go Emma!
Another movie star dazzling in Dior this year was our favourite Jennifer Lawrence, who was a vision in white at the recent Passengers film premiere in LA, in which J-Law stars in this intergalactic sci-fi with Chris Pratt. She teamed her princess-perfect frock with a pair of Christian Louboutin heels and elegant Beladora and Repossi jewellery.
How can we possibly forget one of the most fashionable events of the year? The 2016 Met Gala. In line with the futuristic theme, Nicole Kidman shone in this shimmering bejewelled gown with a matching sheer cape. Picking the perfect designer for the theme, the actress opted for an Alexander McQueen number with an ethereal hair crown and Fred Leighton jewels.
A favourite red carpet look from the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards in September, Kristen Bell wore this beautifully flattering Zuhair Murad floral gown. Calling this her most “whimsical” look to date, the dress boasted a plunging neckline and cinched waist. She topped off her look with Harry Winston diamonds and a pair of custom-dyed Brian Atwood heels to match.
There aren’t many that can pull off a breath-taking red carpet gown whilst pregnant, but Blake Lively never fails to impress. Another wow look from the Met Gala back in May, Blake had a big year after giving birth to her second baby with husband Ryan Reynolds. We adore this Burberry blush pink pleated number, which includes a corset top, split skirt and detachable cape.
