As our calendars quickly fill up with all sorts of festive soirees, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas party outfits to avoid those last minute I-have-nothing-to-wear panics. We called on fashion blogger Monica of the blog Mothloves for some much needed Christmas party style inspiration.

We invited our newly appointed festive fairy godmother to our Oxford Street store to work her magic. Starting with a glamorous Urban Decay makeover, Monica then explored the store and styled up her dream Christmas party outfits. Here she talks you through her day:

The lovely Amber, Senior Makeup Artist at Urban Decay, gave me this gorgeous night time make up look. I couldn’t actually believe it was me when she showed me the final look!

Starting with the eyes, Amber used the Vice 3 eyeshadow palette and NAKED 2 eyeshadow palette to create a shimmering golden bronze shadow and then defined the eyes with the 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in smog & bourbon.

She then created luscious lashes with the Perversion Mascara, further accentuating these with False Lashes right at the end. To create a flawless base she used a foundation brush to apply Naked Skin Liquid Makeup, covering imperfections with the 24/7 Concealer Pencil, before adding a luminous glow with the Naked Flush Bronzer and Blush in Strip. She then finished with the Naked Skin Compact Powder.

To create gorgeous lips Amber used 24/7 Glide-on Lip Pencil in Liar before applying Revolution Lipstick in Rush and Super-Saturated High Gloss Colour in Walk of Shame to add plumpness and shine. To set my party makeup she spritzed a little Makeup Setting Spray over my face.

Once Monica’s party makeover was complete she rifled through clothes rails and picked out her favourite party pieces before whittling it down to her final four must-have Christmas party outfits. Here she explains why she loved each look:

Well it wouldn’t be a Christmas party edit without a bit of sparkle would it? This long sleeve glitter mini dress from Lipsy features a sultry low cowl back that is a fantastic for dancing the night away this festive season. To add a spice of glamour to this look I added this navy faux fur cropped jacket from the Michelle Keegan collection!

Being a mere 5ft 1 I have never been a fan of floor length dresses, however I could not resist the urge to have this gorgeous red full length dress in my Christmas party dress wish list. What better way to attend a Christmas event in style than to wear this show-stopping red lace dress with its alluring cut out sides by Coast.

Not everyone feels comfortable in a dress or a two piece, so why not try a jumpsuit instead? I adore this tux-style jumpsuit from Miss Selfridge, not only does it have a plunging front but also a feminine lace back. I teamed it up with this luxurious white coat from J by Jasper Conran – it is the perfect must-have piece for this winter.
