Be the scarer of the year with our Halloween party how-to guide

There’s nothing better than getting everyone you know together for a good old monster bash at Halloween – or at least there won’t be if you follow our top tips. From the drinks to the decs, we’ve figured out the essentials so you can focus on having a truly gruesome time.

Dead man’s treasure

Give your scary style a touch of glam with some of our Halloween inspired jewellery. From dramatic chokers to decadent OTT gothic crosses – we’ve got bling you won’t be able to say boo to.

Seven deadly gins

Serve a selection of creepy cocktails at your Halloween party this year and your guests will be genuinely terrified – that you might run out. Here are two of our tastiest picks:

The eel charmer:

  • 80mls of bourbon
  • 2 tsp honey,
  • 170mls of fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • A splash of blood orange Italian soda
  • Finish off with orange peel eel garnish, dyed black with food colouring

The corpse reviver:

  • Add equal parts (around 20mls) of:
  • Gin
    Fresh lemon juice
    Triple Sec
    Lillet Blanc
  • 1 Dash Absinthe or pastis.
  • Shake with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass.
  • Serve in a Cocktail Glass.

Dress up after dark

Conjure up some fright-night vibes and get ready to knock ’em dead with three ghoulishly glamorous looks put together by our team. Click here to see all three and shop Halloween fashion.

Do the timewarp

Make sure your Halloween party guests don’t forget about that jump to the left or step to the right. Play only the best creepy tunes on the big night with one of Spotify’s chillingly good playlists. Our favourite is ‘Ultimate Halloween’ click here to listen.

Make your party lit

A good set of fairy lights shouldn’t just be for Christmas. Give your party setting that after-dark vibe with some string lights set to slow-fade. Drape them over your decorations to make your Halloween party Instagram-ready. The best part is you won’t have to take them down for too long afterwards – because it will soon be time to put them back up for Christmas! These Kaemingk multi-coloured LED lights are ideal and are even suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Look scarily good

The quickest (and probably most fun) way to take your regular party look and make it Halloween-ready is to add some chilling make-up designs. This look is called ‘Clowning around’ and was created with Kat Von D products as part of our beauty team’s ‘Ghouls just want to have fun’ Halloween make up series. Click here to visit the beauty community and get the spook.
