There’s not many trends that are suitable for women, men, hair and even nails but dip dye (or ombre) is one of them. Stemming from the season’s 70s mood, the unique dyeing technique has a hippie vibe and will give your wardrobe a modern psychedelic touch.

Whether you choose a bold dip dye or a more gradual ombre version, wearing multiple hues is the only way to dress this summer. Here are the guys and girls from the street to the catwalks that are inspiring the trend to blend…

For Women

Burberry started the movement when it sent tulle ombre dyed dresses down the runway and our designer, Matthew Williamson, also joined the blending gang with his floral printed ombre gowns.

How to wear it:  Welcome the beautiful shades on holiday by wearing an ombre kaftan to watch the sunset. Alternatively, take cues from Matthew Williamson and elevate the look by wearing a floral rainbow gown to this summer’s special occasions.

For Men

The Burberry menswear catwalk showed men how to wear bold and blended shades in the most stylish way. Since then, the look has been adopted in many ways, from the sporty off-duty model coveting an ombre t-shirt to the suave suited gentleman embracing a dip dye blazer.

How to wear it: Blues and greens are the most wearable and complementary hues – pair a sky blue shirt with chinos for a wearable summer look. Otherwise, fully embrace the holiday colours by teaming an ombre style t-shirt with shorts to party on the beach.
