Known as the Oscars of the fashion world, the Met Gala hosted annually at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest event on the fashion fundraising calender. This year, a star-studded line up of famous faces gathered to celebrate the latest exhibition and to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institution. Here’s the low-down from this year’s Gala and the celebrities who stole the show with this year’s theme, ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination’.

1. Blake Lively

Once again, Blake Lively shows us how to win the best-dressed crown at the Met Gala as she stole the show in a regal, ruby-red Versace gown. Never one to do things by halves, the Renaissance-inspired dress was reported to have taken 600 hours to create with Blake claiming it is one of her ‘favourite looks ever’. We couldn’t agree more!

2. Rihanna

Rihanna committed fiercely to this year’s theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination as she channeled her inner Pope. A religious statement that will no doubt go down in Met Gala history as one of her most daring and outrageous outfits, it’s safe to say the Barbadian star isn’t afraid to make a statement. Only Rih Rih could pull off a bejewelled bishop’s hat on the red carpet!

3. Amal Clooney

Amal Clooney looked gorgeous in a majestic strapless top accompanied with a beautiful floral train by our new Debenhams designer Richard Quinn. Not only did he receive the royal seal of approval from The Queen herself during London Fashion Week, he is also a favourite amongst Hollywood royalty too. We’re so excited to collaborate with the rising star, stay tuned for more on his upcoming high street collection here.

4. Amanda Seyfried

Dressed in a Vatican yellow Prada number, Amanda Seyfried proved it’s not all about the glitz and glam as she looked heavenly in a floaty, off the shoulder gown fit for a Greek Goddess. We love the vibrant colour choice, another subtle nod to the the religious theme.

5. Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow looked truly elegant in a structured, strapless white dress by Tommy Hilfiger. Finishing off her debut Met Gala outfit with an extravagant headpiece, the 23 year old model’s look is one of our faves of the night!

6. Jennifer Lopez

This was her 10th Met Gala and J-Lo dazzled in a dramatic, bejewelled dress by Balmain which featured a decadent black feather train. Encorporating this year’s religious theme, her heavily gem-encrusted Catholic cross gown is now being auctioned to raise money for an AIDS charity.
