As the new year gets underway, we share with you our sartorial vows for the year ahead, from tapping into the seventies trend to embracing vibrant colour.
We have to admit that a lot of the time we tend to stick to the main colour groups – black, white and neutrals – when it comes to our wardrobe. However, this SS15 we’ve decided enough is enough and we’ll be fully embracing the full colour spectrum by adding a blast of brights to our everyday look.
Say hello to our must-have summer staple: the shirt dress. Basically your boyfriend’s button-down but longer, more structured and with added polish. Its simplicity means you can go to town on accessories – have fun with colour-pop mules, an oversized clutch and statement sunnies. Et voila!
We’re going to be working an American Hustle vibe this season as fashion throwbacks to the seventies (see Matthew Williamson SS15 above). Think plunging necklines, flares, shaggy faux furs and retro vibrancy reminiscent of Austin Powers. Groovy baby!
Hot to Trot
The time has come to spruce up our shoe collection. We vow to step away from the black boots and invest in a pair of shoes that will elevate our look to the next level of cool, be it sneakers or stilettos.
Join us in embracing the eye-catching blooms and botanicals synonymous with summer for a blooming marvellous look. This season they get super-sized for extra oomph. Read more about the key prints for spring/summer here.
We’ll be getting rid of any make up that we’ve been hoarding for over a year, making more room in our make up bag for those beauty bits we really want. Read all our beauty resolutions on Style Edit here.
One In, One Out
This season we’re getting tough with a strict shopping mantra – we’ll be throwing something out (or giving it to charity) every time we buy something new to avoid the dreaded wardrobe overfill.
