The music industry took the spotlight last night with the Brit Awards inviting music’s finest to convene at the 02 arena. The annual event provided much entertainment – from controversial lyrics to (a now infamous) onstage fall from Madonna, yet the red carpet, as usual, still managed to grab much of the limelight…

The stars were not afraid to flash the flesh, with the show-stopping looks of the night featuring sheer fabrics and cut out details, with many heavily embroidered and glistening with sequins. Here’s who we believe were winners in the style stakes…

Seductive and Embellished

Seductive Black and Red

Red reigned supreme at The Oscars and the trend continued across the Atlantic to The Brits. Combined with black, the look was romantic yet seductive, while intricate embellishments added a touch of haute couture.

Kim may not have made it to the red carpet (we can’t believe she missed her spot in the style spotlight), but we had to include her in our round-up as she wore an über cool cut-out jumpsuit courtesy of our own designer, Julien Macdonald. The reality star looked fierce in the revealing number as she introduced her husband, Kanye West, to the stage. But Taylor Swift was the belle of the ball, wearing a Roberto Cavalli Atelier gown with a dramatic red dragon adornment. ‘Best British Female’ winner, Paloma Faith, also impressed in an Armani Prive look, and changed into another black and red embroidered number before it was time to accept her award. Gorgeous, oversized florals adorned her hair-do, something we think we might try and pull off one day soon – but maybe not for the office.

Glistening and Delicate

Glistening Gold and Ethereal White

Metallic gold, glistening beads and bridal white provided a refreshing take on glamour. Our favourite looks were those that glittered from top-to-toe, as well as the delicate sheer gowns that practically floated down the red carpet.

Rita Ora dazzled onlookers in a  Zuhair Murad glittered jumpsuit, complete with plunging neckline and train. Her smokey eye shadow and slicked-back hair added a modern twist to the styling, contrasting on with the delicate, ethereal chic of Ellie Goulding’s gown. A stunning Alberta Ferretti design, the singer’s signature blonde locks tumbled over her shoulders in a complementary fashion. Fearne Cotton also proved why she’s regarded to be quite the fashionista, mastering simple evening attire via a short metallic dress with coordinating gold accessories.

We loved the glittering frocks and the seductive cut-outs, but which look would you choose?
