Last night marked the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards in LA, marking the start of 2017 award season. Our favourite celebrities showed us that more is more with glitz, glam and sparkle on their gowns. Here’s our favourite five…
Winner of Best Actress for the 2017 musical La La Land, Emma Stone accepted her award in none other than a beautifully embellished, blush pink custom Valentino gown. As a nod to Emma’s traditionally feminine style, this gown featured a plunging neck line, delicate straps and an elegant silhouette. She paired her dress with dazzling jewellery and blush-hued make-up, making her the star of the red carpet, quite literally.
Upping the style stakes on the classic LBD, Blake Lively wowed in a black Atelier Versace gown with gold sequinned detailing. Sophisticated and sexy, the figure hugging dress included gold sequinned pockets for the perfect posing. Arriving with husband Ryan Reynolds, this year marked their first Golden Globe attendance together since 2009.
Gorgeous in grey, Anna Kendrick attended the Golden Globes in a pleated off-the-shoulder Vionnet gown, complete with swoon-worthy draping side panels. Despite being eager to show off her dress, snapping a quick boomerang to her fans on Instagram beforehand, she nonetheless graced the red carpet with sleek, stylish hair and a pop of lip colour to compliment her gown.
Wearing a black jewelled Givenchy number, Meryl Streep graced the stage last night accepted her Cecil B. DeMille Award with an inspirational speech, commenting on the political activity in America last year. Allowing all eyes on the detailed dress, she kept her hair and make-up minimal, yet classic.
Last but not least, Nicole Kidman stunned, shimmered and sparkled in her Alexander McQueen gown. Giving off futuristic vibes, this silhouette-showing number featured delicate straps with ruched off-the-shoulder sleeves and an artistic arrangement of silver sequins.
