Dress for Any Holiday Adventure

Planning a holiday wardrobe is always stressful. You want to make the most of the sun and look fantastic – obviously – all without getting too hot and bothered. If only there was a whole category of clothing DESIGNED for you to sweat in while hiking or sightseeing… But wait, there is! Save your favourite summer clothes from suncream stains and stay comfortable by rocking lightweight, absorbent and super-flattering activewear this holiday.

We love this adventure-ready outfit: Under Armour – Tech graphic twist SSV t-shirt , Elle Sport – Black 7/8 length high waist sports leggings , Puma – Khaki knit ‘Ignite Flash’ trainers

Do Hand-Baggage Only Like a Pro

So, you decided to be ambitious and travel hand-baggage only? We salute you. Now panicking about doing it? We can help.

Sad as it is, there’s no space for outfit options in a cabin-size bag. When you pack, lay out all your clothes and select your looks in advance, then snap a photo so you don’t forget! To pack, tightly roll the chosen few and place them in the bottom of the case ready for a fuss-free trip!

The real challenge – as we all know – is liquids. It’s impossible to cram all your cleansers, toners and moisturisers in that tiny plastic bag – let alone sunblock, shampoo and conditioner. If you can decant your favourite products into smaller containers, do so, then be sure to keep them handy so you don’t have to go rummaging in your suitcase at security.

Not all airlines allow a separate handbag, so carry your liquids, purchases and other airport essentials in a lightweight tote bag (like this one) which you can roll up and pop in the top of your cabin case before boarding. It also doubles as a roomy handbag for the rest of your holiday. TIP: Hold on to the plastic airport liquids bag so you can arrive pre-packed on the way home.

Be Emergency-proof

When travelling it’s important to always be covered. We aren’t talking maxi-dresses or sarongs here, insurance is one thing every holiday-er needs and it doesn’t even take up any suitcase space. With Debenhams Travel Insurance you can customise your package by adding optional extras like winter sports cover or overseas wedding cover. Plus, get a free £5 gift card with single trip policies and a £20 gift card with annual policies. With a 24-hour emergency helpline, the only thing you’re going to be worrying about this holiday is whether or not you can reach your drink from your sunlounger, and that’s the way we think it should be.

Sort the Spenders in Advance

Avoid nasty card charges and worries of overspending by buying your currency before you travel.

If you’re going to be shopping till you drop in Euros or US Dollars, we recommend enjoying the safety and ease of a prepaid Debenhams Travel Money Card with zero transaction fees for payments in the same currency. You can click and collect foreign currency orders from over 100 Travel Money bureaus in our stores across the UK, and if you spend more than £50 we’ll treat you to a ‘£5 off £20 spend in store’ voucher to help with those final holiday purchases.

If by some miracle you don’t spend all your cents or dimes, you can even load your leftover currency onto a Debenhams gift card and we’ll give you 20% extra free!

Don’t Plan, Just Do

We see you, pouring over guidebooks, searching Trip Advisor for ‘things to do’ and furiously scrolling Instagram for itinerary-inspo.

We get it. You’re going somewhere incredible, and you want to squeeze every drop of incredible-ness out it. The thing is, your day-to-day life is already scheduled enough. Don’t end up being too busy remembering all the things you need to see and do that you forget to relax and enjoy yourself. This summer, leave your FOMO at home, and just see where your holiday takes you.

Book Something Amazing

So last-minute you’ve not even settled on a destination yet?

The Atlantic Ocean is at its warmest during August and September, so now’s the perfect time to make the short-haul hop over to Portugal. Explore the busy sloping streets of Lisbon or the golden, endless beaches of the south. It also hosts some of the best surfing in Europe if your vitamin-sea levels need topping up.

The Canary Islands also benefit from warmer waters this time of year. Far more than the sum of their sands, these islands boast rocky mountains and adventure-packed deserts as well as beautiful beaches. Go off the beaten track – literally – and mix up your beach-to-bar routine with an off-road 4×4 or dune buggy tour.

Go on, we dare you.
