Without a doubt the crème de la crème of red carpet style, we can always count on Cannes Film Festival to delight us with a display of unrivaled glitz and glamour.

Responsible for some of the most iconic red carpet moments in history, we’ve watched (and gawped) incessantly all week as Hollywood’s biggest stars descend on the French Riviera dressed to the nines in the most magnificent gowns. Here’s our round-up of the hottest trends from this year’s Festival.

Colouring in

There was no shortage of bold colours on the Cannes red carpet. A welcome change from the play-it-safe nudes we’ve become accustomed to seeing at this year’s award shows, Miranda Kerr showed off her enviable supermodel figure in a plunging, thigh split dress in hot pink, while Erin O’Connor looked good enough to unwrap in a radiant red gown featuring a playful oversized bow. Rather than going for head-to-toe colour, Emily Blunt modeled a Peter Pilotto geometric-print dress with a smattering of vibrant lime while attending the photocall for her new film, Sicario.

Softly does it

On the opposite end of the colour spectrum from the bright look-at-me dresses we’ve been admiring, delicate pastel shades – primarily soft blues and greys – have had us equally captivated.  Diane Kruger resembled a goddess in an intricately embellished Grecian-style gown in a soft blue shade, perfectly complemented by her loose waves and nude makeup. Flirtatious feathers were also a hit on the night, with stars such as Araya Hargate and Naomi Watts swanning down the red carpet in truly breath-taking gowns.

Floral flourish

Blossoming all over the red carpet, 3D floral embellishments were a key dress detail, providing the perfect floral finish to many a gown. Never one to disappoint with her red carpet style, Lupita Nyong’o looked a dream in an ethereal green Gucci gown adorned with pink floral appliqués and Chopard jewels. Poppy Delevingne stayed true to her signature boho style in a head-turning dress with a pretty 3D floral skirt complete with a plunging neckline, while Taylor Swift’s best friend, Karlie Kloss, transformed her bold blue dress with contrasting black floral appliqué detailing.
