Wedding season is upon us so it’s time to start thinking about the dress, the bag, the hat, the jewellery… The list of must-buys seems mind-boggling but we’re making light work of the tricky shopping task in hand with our simple guide showing you what to wear to a summer wedding.
With the trend for exotic weddings in unique locations, as well as popular classic settings, there’s plenty of opportunities to wear something special. Here, we take you on a whirlwind tour from Morocco to the British countryside with a stylish outfit for every location.
The Country Wedding
An English countryside wedding will probably be a relaxed setting, perfect for embracing a less figure-hugging and more relaxed silhouette. Opt for feminine prom styles printed with pretty florals to add a little colour to your look. A simple grab bag and colourful fascinator will elevate your look to ensure you’re the most stylish wedding guest there.
Top Tip: Choose a block heel to ensure you don’t slip into the grass causing a potentially embarrassing accident.
The Beach Wedding

If you’re lucky enough to be invited to a beach wedding this summer, make sure you’ve got lightweight layers, sandals and sparkling jewellery in your suitcase. This Coast chiffon dress will keep you cool under the sun’s rays and you’ll be ready to party with the addition of a few emebellished accessories.
Top Tip: Wear a crystal headband instead of a hat to ensure that you keep hold of your headgear in the sea breeze.
The Marrakech Wedding
Shop the edit- from left: Warehouse tile print shift dress, The Collection gold plated long stone tassel earrings, Butterfly by Matthew Williamson gold disc bracelet, Faith nude fringed clutch bag, Faith tan leather wedge sandals.
Since Poppy Delevingne’s glamorous Marrakech wedding, the Moroccan wedding has gained A-list status. Embrace print, pattern and gold for a decadent and ethnic look that’s perfect for partying in the heat. We love a tribal inspired printed dress -choose either maxi or mini length- paired with tan wedge sandals.
Top Tip: For this look more is more; adorn your wrists, lobes and neck with gold jewellery aplenty.
The City Wedding
Shop the edit- from left: Phase Eight praline and cream fascinator, Debut light gold organza stole, No. 1 by Jenny Packham taupe jewel toe court shoes, No. 1 by Jenny Packham gold jacquard emebllished neck prom dress.
A classic city wedding is still a favourite despite the growing trend for more exotic wedding locations. Take inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge by wearing nude colours, court shoes and a statement fasincator. Add a little embellishment for a look that will work from ceremony to reception.
Top Tip: A lightweight stole is an ideal option to cover up for the ceremony- simply tuck away in your bag later in the day.
