100 lucky fans managed to catch an exclusive gig from Friendly Fires at Shoreditch House this week put on by Levi’s® as part of their OnesToWatch® tour. Levi’s organises events throughout the year to bring music lovers the hottest and coolest new acts on the rise to super stardom and the Friendly Fires gig was a night out that I was particularly looking forward to.
The band kicked off their set with the track ‘Lovesick’ followed by my personal favourites ‘Jump in the Pool’ and ‘Skeleton Boy’, both singles from the band’s self titled album. Friendly Fires got everyone moving with their winning formula of techno influenced indie music and feel-good rhythms and if you get the chance to see them live I would definitely recommend you do.
Friendly Fires have already enjoyed a great deal of success with praise from The Guardian, Zane Lowe and NME Magazine. Their song ‘White Diamonds’ featured on hit American show Gossip Girl which is a testament to how cool they really are.
On the opening night of the event last week we headed over to Brick Lane’s Vibe Bar to see Danananaykroyd play to an eager crowd. The intimate setting of a small venue meant we were close to all the action with the band’s front man diving into the crowd during the performance. Not only did they sound the part, they looked it too and I really think that bands are a great place to look for rising fashion trends.
Friendly Fires will be playing at The Lovebox Weekender in London’s Victoria Park this Saturday 17 July so if you happen to be going make sure you check them out.
