Eat your heart out Bridget Jones, big knickers are officially ‘in’ with sales overtaking the perennial favourite thongs.
The new big pant trend has been set by new US popstrel Lady Gaga. Usually a celebrity secret worn underneath figure-hugging dresses by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce and Britain’s Got Talent’s Amanda Holden, shapewear is proving to be an unusual hit with the younger generation, who are fans of the ‘Poker Face’ pop singer and self-confessed ‘shapewear as outerwear’ lover, Lady Gaga.
Younger generations are now snapping up the figure-sculpting styles so that they can emulate Lady Gaga’s style and wear them as hot pants on the nightclub circuit.
Although I won’t be wearing mine as outerwear or on the nightclub circuit I must admit these shapewear beauties are a real winner. Gone are the days of ‘big granny knickers’.
My personal recommendation is that you make these new breed of big pants that magically nip, tuck and shape a lingerie drawer staple. Wear as outerwear if you dare to bare, under a body-con dress or by themselves as part of you’re loungewear wardrobe.
