This time next year, for the first time since 1948, the Olympic Games will open in London.
The 1948 Games hold a special place in the hearts of Olympic fans and historians alike as it was the first post World War II games and also the first for 12 years.
Sixty three years ago, life and London were very different: Japan and Germany were not invited to participate, the USSR declined to send athletes and the BBC paid £1000 to broadcast the opening ceremony and 60 hours of live coverage. The Olympic spirit is still the same, however.
With just one year to go the Olympic flame is burning within the people of Britain and London. The stadia are ready, the pool is filled and the tickets are sold and in just 366 days the Olympic flame itself will burst into life.
Over 17 days of sporting action reputations will be born and broken and new national heroes will emerge. The country has already pinned its hopes on established Olympians like Sir Chris Hoy, Tom Daley and Rebecca Adlington but the next generation of medal winners could come from any field, that’s what’s so fantastic about sport and the Olympics in particular.
We’re busy getting ready, working with partners like adidas to develop a range of products and memorabilia that we hope will help make next year’s games one you’ll enjoy for the summer and remember for a lifetime.
