As a new season approaches it’s time to introduce yourself to an exciting new collection of trends and the one that’s got us talking is already filtering through onto the shelves (and site!)

Tapping into the fashion for all things lip-bitingly sexy, as spotted on the AW12 catwalks of Alexander Wang and Christopher Kane and stirred by E. L James hugely successful Fifty Shades trilogy, is a wanton lust for all things mercilessly gorgeous.

Above are some fine examples of the trend, from left to right: Black lace peplum skirt shift dress by Debut, Blace lace insert bodycon dress by Star by Julien Macdonald and Dark grey embellished mesh dress by Jenny Packham.

Primarily an Occasion and Evening Wear trend, this look is unrelentingly feisty, glamorous through and through and trimmed with lace at every opportunity.
Key shades are rich reds, deep purples, moody greys and the master of seduction, black.
So that’s rich, deep, moody and seductive. Sound familiar?

The 50 Shades effect is said to be heavily responsible for an increase in lingerie sales, ahem…amongst other things, so it makes sense that it should infiltrate our wardrobe as well as our underwear drawer.

Whether or not you’re a fan of the books and the fictional lead character that has so suddenly transfixed the imaginations of women all over the world, you’ve got to admit this trend is pretty sexy!

What’s more it makes a refreshing retort to summer’s floral prints and pastel tones, is whole-heartedly flattering and makes the perfect partner for the leather mini-trend that’s also looking big for AW12.

This trend is confident, empowering and most definitely not subordinate ladies! Think sassy, flirty and confident. You don’t need to read the book to get the idea! Up the glamour and take control of your wardrobe.

Get in quick, this one’s going to be huge!
