If you’ve noticed something funny while walking around Holborn or Bloomsbury the past few days, and by ‘funny’ I mean impeccably dressed men, it’s not just a lucky fluke. LC: M kicked off on Sunday.
LC: M (London Collections: Men) or more commonly referred to as ‘Men’s Fashion Week’, is a 3-day menswear trade event hosting over 130 designers, the world’s most innovative emerging talents, global menswear brands, as well as Savile Row tailors all hoping to display their collections to press and buyers.
Since its inception in June 2012, LC: M is relatively new compared to the other menswear fashion events – the legendary Pitti Uomo in Florence dates back to 1972 – but is already attracting visitors the world over and affirming London’s status as the global fashion capital.
It also bears a few other staples: the collective dapper presence of David Gandy, Tinie Tempah, Jesse Metcalfe, Jeremy Piven, Dylan Jones (Editor of GQ & Chair of the Menswear Committee), as well as a visually inspiring array of men’s street style photographers and bloggers, and of course, those fun fashion week parties.
Today saw J.W.Anderson, Margaret Howell and Richard James’ catwalk presentations and welcomes Moschino’s debut at the London Collections this evening. The clothes and designers then travel on to the London Showrooms Paris event, which starts on June 27 across the Channel.
We wish all those involved a great LC: M SS15, and can only hope that the attention to detail, and flair for accessorising these superbly styled gents have rubs off on boys everywhere. Suits & tailoring is naturally a good place to start.
