As part of Debenhams #GetBackToYou campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we treated three Breast Cancer Now ambassadors to a makeover with our Designers at Debenhams. Here’s how they went…
When Aliza Reger met Claire
Our fabulous lingerie designer Aliza Reger travelled to Manchester to meet the lovely Claire from Cheshire. They had a girly afternoon of shopping, cakes and gossip whilst swapping styling tips.
Claire, who rocked a gorgeous Nine by Savannah Miller leather jacket for her final outfit choice said, “I am beyond delighted to have been asked to take part in this designer makeover. It has come at the perfect time while I am still getting used to a different body shape and not feeling completely confident just yet. It is also extremely important to me to be able to raise awareness of the work that Breast Cancer Now does in raising money for vital research. Without this the outcome may be very different for a lot of people diagnosed with breast cancer. “
Aliza added, “I had a fantastic day with Claire and I hope the fabulous items she chose will make her feel great every time she wears them.” says Aliza Reger “She was a most inspiring lady and her courage, dignity, and warmth will stay with me – she is so brave and so strong.”
And what are Aliza’s tips to #GetBacktoYou?
“I have a few favourite tips that help me get back to feeling myself; I love to cook and bake, baking a cake will always make me feel better and giving cake to friends is a win win. A new treat, usually lingerie, always make me feel better, new make-up and of course there is nothing like new shoes and a handbag to make you feel a little better.“
When Henry Holland met Diane
Fashion lover and Breast Cancer Now supporter Diane from Dudley came along to Debenhams with her mum to meet with iconic fashion designer and Designer at Debenhams Henry Holland for an exciting afternoon of shopping.
“When I was given the news that I had been selected for a designer style makeover with Debenhams and Henry Holland for Breast Cancer Now, I thought they were kidding!” said Diane “Fashion and beauty are two of my favourite things and to be invited to London for the day to get style advice and a makeover from one of the best British designers of our time, is like a dream come true.”
The two fashionista’s picked out some quirky new looks for Diane from the H! by Henry Holland collection, including a gorgeous floral dress.
Henry added, “I am a huge supporter of the work Debenhams does with Breast Cancer Now to help fund vital research and support women with breast cancer. I was so pleased to be able to meet one of their ambassadors Diane – we had a great day together picking out outfits and looks to complement her style. The #GetBackToYou campaign is such a powerful way to help women feel good about themselves and get their confidence back after breast cancer – I am proud to be a part of it.”
Beatrice works at the Institute of Cancer Research in London as a breast cancer scientist, as well as having been through the disease herself. She met with legendary Designer at Debenhams Ben de Lisi for a style makeover at our Oxford St store.
“I enjoyed chatting with the glamorous girls from Debenhams when they visited our research centre earlier this summer. I admired their style and flair for fashion, so I am very pleased to get an upgrade in the style department from them!” said Beatrice
Beatrice advised that during her treatment she found some small ways to help her feel herself; “I found that keeping active through a combination of cardio (running, cycling, body combat) and yoga helped make me feel strong and healthy and more like myself.”
Ben de Lisi whisked Beatrice around our flagship Debenhams store, helping her to select her favourite stylish pieces from the Principles by Ben de Lisi range. Beatrice looked stunning in a geometric print coat that’s perfect for the autumn months.
He added, “It was great to meet Beatrice and hear about the inspirational work she does for Breast Cancer Now” said Ben, “The style session was a well-deserved treat and we had a great day picking out fabulous outfits from my collection. She looked stunning! I’m very proud to support Debenhams and the great charitable work they do for those affected by this terrible disease.”
