Debenhams would like to say a huge thank you to all our staff who got involved in the Breast Cancer Campaign Cycle to the Moon bike ride in October and to everyone who donated money on wear it pink day – we raised a massive £3,507 at head office alone.
We also need to say an even bigger thank you to our customers and staff across the country. 2009 was our most successful year since the partnership with Breast Cancer Campaign began in 2001 and we managed to raise a total of £416,453 through sales of products, pin badge sales, staff fundraising, supplier donations and the charity giftcard.
This brings the grand total raised since 2001 to over £2.3 million, which is a fantastic achievement and all down to the support and dedication of our staff and customers.
Funds raised by Debenhams will go towards ten different research projects across the UK and Ireland, including Dr Maher’s project at Kings College, London, which hopes to develop a new treatment for people with secondary breast cancer.
