The weather keeps chopping and changing between rain and sunshine at the moment and, as a result, the collections at Debenhams are all the colours of a rainbow…
In real life despite the ever-changing weather, there have been no sightings of the multi-coloured anomalies in the sky – but we’re certainly making up for it in our wardrobes. First up, we can’t help but smile (despite the rain) at the over-sized, colourful creations in shopper style bags at Lipsy, Phase Eight and Warehouse. Completely spoilt for choice, we suggest buying one for home and another for those holidays away.

Accessory-wise, there’s so much scope to add a splash of colour amidst all the rain, with one of the gorgeous multi-stone rings at Butterfly by Matthew Williamson or a Marta Jonsson colourful clutch. Don’t be a shrinking violet – wear the last colour of the rainbow loud and proud – with assorted others.
Over at H! by Henry Holland, the cool and quirky designer has us feeling all magical with his blending of colour in his tie dye dip hem dress. Long at the back and short at the front, the hem seems somewhat indecisive – perfectly on trend for our weather then. Another favourite from Henry Holland, for us, has to be the unicorn tie-dye tee – mystical, marvellous and made for those who want to stand out from the clouds.
If tie-dye fusings of colour aren’t really your thing then keep it classic with Red Herring, where pretty prom dresses, this season, see coloured stripes fade and flow into each other, rainbow-style.
Great minds think alike and this is clearly the case when it comes to the creative mind of Debenhams’ designer Julien Macdonald. In a slightly darker tone we love his chic and colourful, and aptly named, ‘Black Rainbow’ dress – perhaps he already knew it would be a case of ‘bright sun vs dark clouds’ when it came to designing his spring/summer 2012 collection. If so, we hope he can whisper in our ears and let us know when the sun will come out to play properly. When it does, we’ll be slipping into this dip-dye hem Lipsy number for sure, leaving all macs, trenches, umbrellas and wellies where they belong – in our winter wardrobes.
At this rate, we’ll be throwing all caution to the (ever-increasing) wind and simply donning our summer styles during the next rainstorm. After all, there are only so many times a girl can reach for her winter boots on a morning and gaze longingly at her flip flops…
If you’re with us, be sure to stock up on your rainbow colours at Debenhams and get ready to make a different kind of splash with your eye-catching summer style.
