Shirtego… how low do you unbutton yours?

We’ve been getting Shirtego here at Debenhams from the new men’s fashion trend.
It looks like men in the UK are getting braver to bare and are wearing their shirts this season with three buttons undone. Never since the likes of Richard Gere in American Gigolo and John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, has the bare chested look been so popular for men. It’s the return of the ‘machosexual’ – men who are masculine, confident and sexy.
We asked our customers, “how low can you go” and found that 75 per cent of men now regularly wear shirts with three buttons undone on a night out, 41 per cent of men will dare to rock four buttons undone look and 36 per cent of men will even go this low at work or in the office.
Paul Baldwin, the Debenhams Menswear Director says, “This is traditionally a look more commonly associated with Latin lovers, but it has now hit these shores with British men embracing the warmer weather and the salon to bare their chests. The men of The Only Way is Essex, Ryan Reynolds, Gerard Butler and even Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds were also stated as sartorial inspiration for the dramatic trend hitting the high street.
