Sports stars launch Get Britain Active campaign

Miss England 2009 and 2012 Olympic hopeful, Rachel Christie along with Olympic champion triple jumper, Phillips Idowu created a buzz in the Debenhams flagship store on Oxford Street last week. I headed over there to do some celeb spotting as the pair officially launched the Debenhams Get Britain Active campaign.
Crowds gathered as Phillips and Rachel dashed about the store modelling the latest sports looks. I was out of breath just watching them run up and down the escalators as the camera bulbs flashed. Rachel did stand still for a moment though to pose wearing her dazzling Miss England crown and lucky shoppers were then able to meet the celebrities and collect some fresh new signatures for their autograph books.
Debenhams is celebrating the launch of a new Sport & Leisure department, but that isn’t all. Recent research has revealed that the credit crunch is making Britain munch. In a bid to get us all up off the sofa, Debenhams is giving away £4 million worth of free sport across the UK to customers who spend £40 or more on the Sport & Leisure range in store. The offer includes access to a free personal training session which (something I would love to try) or free sports sessions including aerobics, yoga and tennis. Debenhams is determined to ‘Get Britain Active’ and a little extra motivation can’t be a bad thing.
