Style to sport at the finish line…

Sporting Lines

With a sporting summer looming later in the season, we thought we’d pick out some winning styles for you to ‘sport’… and help you earn those fashion stripes.

Indeed, looking at all the nautical stripes and colourful lines on display right now at Debenhams, it’s safe to say we’re already going for gold in the glamour stakes.

First up, we couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous gowns at Debut. Perfect for those days at the races, we think the clash of red and pink in the striped, slash neck prom dress is so wrong, it can’t help but be right. Feeling more ‘picnic on Wimbledon hill’ than ‘champagne at the races’? The Red Herring shift dress should certainly make its way into first place in your wardrobe.

If spectator sports are more your thing, the over-sized Ben de Lisi bag with creamy, burnt orange and brown hues is the ideal accessory to take your through the day and into those summer sunsets.

When it comes to summer and stripes, one can’t ignore the lure of the nautical trend. With maxis at Phase Eight and cute and pretty styles at Quiz, you’ll be spoilt for choice when picking your clothing team. The beauty of accessories is the way in which they can be used to make a statement. Be a good sport and embrace the fashion fun, with this over-sized bow clutch from Faith.

Continuing the accessory fun, this Red Herring necklace is ideal for sporting events – allowing you to stand out no matter the size of the crowd. The glittering gold tones make it perfectly clear that this summer, simply silver just won’t do.  With all the days spent watching sports/sipping pimms in the sun, you’ll certainly need a sunhat, with this J by Jasper Conran number both ladylike… and decorated with lines not dissimilar to those we hope our Brit team will cross.

One can probably suppose they’ll be wearing sensible footwear to do so but, if not, our athletes, footballers, tennis players and jockeys could always take inspiration from H! by Henry Holland and pick up a pair of multi-coloured striped flats.

Turning the sport scene into the new summer catwalk? That’s one way to make us want to watch the re-plays…
