The Debenhams guide to LFW…

It’s almost here – on Friday 14th February one (of two) of our favourite weeks will come to town, with the arrival of the fashion pack for London Fashion Week. Yes, while everyone else has been focused on supporting Team GB, here at Debenhams we’ve been a little more excited about displaying our own team of talent, with a host of our Designers at Debenhams taking to the spotlight at LFW this September.
In September 2012, one of the big names scheduled to return to London Fashion Week is design duo Thornton and Thea Bregazzi of Preen – one quarter of our designer concept, Edition, at Debenhams.
After six years showing in New York, Preen are said to delighted at being “back on home turf”, a feeling shared by many. We can’t wait to see what the duo have in mind for SS13 for Preen… and Debenhams. Today the label is the epitome of classic, sophisticated cool, while original collections were inspired by iconic British periods. We’re already curious to see how returning to its roots will reflect in Preen’s homecoming style.
Also flying the fashion flag for Edition will be Jonathan Saunders and Roksanda Ilincic. The former, known for his vibrant prints, will no doubt bring a burst of colour to proceedings. Always one of the hottest tickets in town, the Jonathan Saunders show will no doubt make us start thinking about the label’s upcoming SS13 collection for Edition at Debenhams – something bright beyond the winter horizon.
As for Roksanda Ilincic, the designer once stated that “Anyone who naturally gravitates to my work will look magnificent in it!” She’s right, which is why we can’t wait to see what the new collection will reveal of her vision for SS13. The Central Saint Martins graduate is known for her shiny fabrics, retro influence and bold colours – all apparent in her designs for Editon at Debenhams.
Debenhams has long been renowned for its Designers at Debenhams collections. Given that Henry Holland, Matthew Williamson, John Rocha and Jasper Conran will all be showing at London Fashion Week this season, it’s easy to see why.
His H! by Henry Holland collection at Debenhams is, in a nutshell, fun, funky and fast fashion. Always bang-on-trend, the Henry Holland aesthetic was hugely evident in the checked playsuits, animal patterns and Hawaiian prints showcased in his SS12 range for Debenhams. What will SS13 bring? His House of Holland collection might give us a clue…
Always a talking point of LFW, the Matthew Williamson show attracts many a famous face – well it is to be expected, after all Sienna Miller is one of the designer’s best friends. Matthew’s first freelance job out of Central Saint Martin’s was with Marni, followed by Monsoon and Accessorize. No wonder his signature style is feminine and fabulous – no matter the season.
We love our Rocha. John Rocha label for its relaxed, contemporary look and luxurious feel – thanks to the designer’s love of Irish linens. Dublin based, John Rocha will head to London to show his SS13 collection – and we’ll be there to report on what’s in store. If it’s anything like his AW12/13 collection – a mix of volume and slim silhouettes, it won’t disappoint.
A British fashion stalwart, Jasper Conran has been a fixture of London Fashion Week since it first began – meaning he knows a thing or two about how to work the catwalk crowd. A classic, quintessentially British designer, his J by Jasper Conran collection for Debenhams promotes the same cool, crisp, understatedly stylish chic.
London Fashion Week runs from 14th-18th September 2012. Check out the Debenhams blog for updates, including catwalk reports and backstage access.
