So the first two games have been a disaster. Everything from our goalkeeper selection to our press conferences have gone wrong, even our superstar striker has looked like he’s forgotten how to play football.
But come 3pm today all that will be forgiven and forgotten and England will march on. Against a solid Slovenian team it will be the pace of both England’s full backs, the control of the central midfielders and the guile of Wayne Rooney that will take England into the knockout phase of a fantastic and memorable World Cup.
With a draw that offers a very manageable pathway to the semi final and a squad of experienced professionals playing at their peak everything is in place for England to win their first major trophy since that famous day in Wembley 44 years ago.
