Think Pink! A dance with Debenhams…

This October, Debenhams is challenging staff across all stores and head office to dance for 48 hours, in a bid to recognise the 48,000 women affected by breast cancer each year.
To give stores a helping hand, we’ve partnered with Just Jhoom!, a Bollywood-style dance school who will be performing, as well as giving us (possibly much needed) lessons, in as many stores as possible during the month.
Of course, as well as having fun, the over all aim is to raise as much money as possible for by asking people to make a small donation to take part or watch. Given how much fun the team at Oxford’s Street Head Office had when it came to be their turn, we think this is a small price to pay for the fun had by all. With so many affected by breast cancer each year sadly we all know someone, be it directly or indirectly, who has been touched by this disease. So, in honour of them, in October we’re dancing – like we’ve never danced before…
As we mentioned, our Oxford Street Head Office loved their Just Jhoom! experience, taking time out on the morning of Friday 5 October to pop over to the world famous Pineapple Dance Studio to be put through their steps. How very fame.
Unfortunately for yours truly, I was on holiday and missed the fun, but I have been told by my colleagues that this dance session was so energetic and fast moving, they were hotter by the end than I will have been… lying on a beach in Majorca. After seeing the photos, I don’t doubt it.
Just Jhoom! means Just Dance! and draws on a range of dance styles from classical Indian to bhangra with dashes of hip-hop, jive and jazz and we’ve been very lucky to have them on hand to show us their moves this month. If you love to dance, be sure to check back later in the week when we’ll be posting an interview with Shalini, the brains (or rather feet) behind Just Jhoom.
We’ll be dancing and raising money for breast cancer research throughout October, with a range of related products in store. For every bra sold we’ll donate 50p and 25% of sales from a range of specially made t-shirts will also be donated. And don’t forget our two heart-themed mugs of which 10% of sales will also be donated.
So get dancing, start giving and Think Pink!
