Tips for the races

The Races

It’s that time of the year again when offices and homes across the country pick a random horse from a list of 40 and enjoy a flutter – on the 10th of April it’s Grand National day.

In the office Jenny goes for the funniest name, Ann picks by the colour of the silks while I go on my secret system (that has failed to produce a winner in four long years). This year Jenny, for reasons best kept secret, has opted for The Package, Ann has gone for Ollie Magern while my system tells me this could be Tony McCoy’s year on Don’t Push It.  So how do you choose your National horse?

The National at Aintree also signifies the start of a fantastic Spring and Summer season of racing across Britain and Ireland and we have all you need to make sure you look tip top when looking for tips.

Dressed for the races

For the guys we love these great horse cufflinks, totally topical and smart too. For the girls it’s all about finding the right hat or fascinator to make the perfect races statement.

Do let us know if you manage to back a winner this weekend and I might be able to improve my secret horse-picking system for next time…

    King John’s Castle 33/1

Races off a similar handicap mark as 2 years ago when a close-up second, and vibes seem positive from those close to the horse.

Other than KJC, I will blindly follow your system.

As to my real reason for choosing King John’s Castle, said castle is in fact located in Limerick, near the city centre on the road to Shannon. This castle represented a departure and re-entry point from Limerick to the not-so-nice place I worked when a young and energetic young man.

I’m supporting the female jockey and backing Character Building and my husband is going for Vic Venturi – I don’t know why his name isn’t even Vic!

One of my three horses is Ellerslie George and I chose him because we have similar names! My dad, always more of a fan of cricket than a horse racing one, has gone for Flintoff!!!

I hope you put money on your secret system horse!
