V Fashion: Girls Gone Glamping

With festival season coming to an end, it’s probably time to put our denim shorts away and get out the winter warmers, but that doesn’t mean we can’t focus on the fabulous festival fashion – one more time.
With V Festival taking place last weekend we thought it was perhaps the perfect time to for a little festival fashion round-up. V festival is full of carefully styled girls with immaculate make-up – just look at Little Mix – and people more into ‘glamping’ than camping. So who wore what and, more importantly, did they wear it well?
Festival regulars The Saturdays ticked off all the trends for this season and looked incredible doing it. Vanessa White sported the monochrome trend and opted for tight fitting, bodycon styles in black and white. Una Healy and Rochelle Humes chose a more colourful approach to the festival, wearing the brightest of colours and boldest of prints.
Newish girl band on the block (and rivals) Little Mix predominately wore all black – classic and practical, a good call we think. Leigh Anne revealed her midriff in a black skirt and cropped top whilst Jesy wore jet black, wet-look dungarees.
Sure all the celebrities looked fabulous, with their outfits timeless and suitable all year round. With no sandals in sight, it seemed as though ankle boots were the key trend at V festival – expecting rain, anyone?
Whether black or tanned, studded or buckled, all the stars had a pair on. Ankle boots are not only essential for festivals, but for the cold and rainy months of winter, they tend to come in rather handy. These ankle boots from Marta are the perfect pair to take you from summer right through to winter – we’re already saving up to get ours.
Biker jackets also seemed to be everywhere at festivals this year. Paired with denim shorts or printed t-shirt dresses, the black biker instantly transforms any outfit. This black biker jacket from Wallis is definitely a must-have to get the look.
Biker jackets are the perfect all year round piece. They keep you cool in the summer with a t-shirt and shorts but also, layered over jumpers and leggings, are the perfect alternative to a full-on-winter-ready coat come the more mild days of winter.
Una Healy pulled off a bold red leather biker jacket, whilst bandmate Mollie King rocked a plain black design. Mollie King paired hers with denim shorts, the go-to way to look laid-back and glamorous. For a great pair of denim shorts for festivals, try these Joe Browns shorts.
Another key piece that we recommend for all year round is a printed scarf. For the winter you can opt for heavier varieties, whereas in summer a light airy scarf does the trick. This Red Herring scarf is the perfect piece that can be worn throughout the winter, or when we are lucky enough to have a warmer day or two.
Do you like the looks? What’s your festival style? Take a look at the Festival Fashion feature in Issue 5 of Debenhams magazine for a little more style inspiration. There’s definitely one or two left on the calendar – only for hardcore ‘glampers’ of course.
