Wedding style: Three ways to ‘do’ guest glamour…

Balmy July is the busiest month for weddings, which means you’re usually invited to several, and there’s no chance of getting away with wearing the same thing more than once – particularly as your friends’ and family’s chosen venues tend to differ.
Whether the wedding is in the city, country, or by the beach, wedding style needs to be tweaked accordingly. Everyone knows that the guests’ collective look can make or break the feel of the wedding. There’s the danger of looking too staid in the city or underdressed at your country’s fancy country club wedding, so make sure you embrace the theme and nail it by using our three style edits as inspiration.
A wedding in town calls for contemporary sophistication, and we look to quintessential city girl Sarah Jessica Parker (aka Carrie) for inspiration. The full flare of this butterfly print dress from Jasmine London shapes a dramatic silhouette and needs a good high court shoe, such as these matching midnight blue studded pair from Carvela. High-octane yet classic jewellery is a must for this elegant look; we love this stunning crystal collar and Kate Middleton-style ring (yes, that one) from Jon Richardson. Debut’s silver embellished pouch rounds the look off and unlike those traditional baguette clutches, will fit all your essentials.
Country weddings can be slightly more relaxed, yet traditional in dress code. We work our look around a fifties-shaped polka dot dress from Jolie Moi. High, buckled court shoes from KG By Kurt Geiger (with a bare leg) and Nine West’s uber-elegant white tie-knot clutch add the perfect amount of polish. A fascinator is de riguer for a country wedding, and this monochrome flower-trim one from Jacques Vert evokes a sense of heritage.
If you’ve been lucky enough to get invited to a beach wedding, the warm coral hue of this one-shoulder gown from Koo-ture will contrast beautifully against the sand and sea, and these shimmery gold sunglasses from Carrera are a must. Wedges, such as this pretty pink pair from Faith ensure heels don’t get stuck in the sand. Naturally, a pearl clutch like this oval shaped one from Jon Richard, is the perfect finishing touch.
A romantic beach wedding calls for light, shimmery makeup. One thing’s for sure, this may be the only kind of wedding where it’s appropriate to literally kick your shoes off.
