Vintage at Goodwood is Britain’s brand new summer festival celebrating five decades of British cool from the 40s through 80s. Created by style gurus Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and Lord March, it brings together and celebrates the music, fashion, film, art, dance and design that has made Britain the world’s creative and cultural hot bed.
In the spirit of the fondly remembered and design-led 1951 Festival of Britain, Vintage is a celebration of where we have come from, and where our creative culture is taking us. Visit the Vintage at Goodwood website for everything you need to know and get festival ready here.

Q&A with Vintage at Goodwood organiser, Wayne Hemingway.

Wayne Hemingway was born in Morcambe in 1961 and is one of Britain’s most acclaimed designers. He first found success with the launch of the Red or Dead label which he and his wife Geraldine founded and ran to global acclaim. He has won too many awards to mention and his latest project is, of course, Vintage at Goodwood. We caught up with him to get the latest…
Hi Wayne, thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we know you’re busy. Firstly, where did the idea for Vintage at Goodwood come from?
The need for a summer festival that celebrates everything that’s great about British creative cool culture , the need for a summer festival that covered music , fashion , film , art + design + allowed you to remain glamorous in a glam location
Any special advice or tips you’d give to those attending Vintage at Goodwood?
Dress up , sample the glamping , be prepared to dance !!
You have a lifelong love of music and still DJ, what artists are you most excited about seeing?
It’s so hard to choose …my first love is Soul + Dance music ..so the soul casino , The Quattro Warehouse and that amazing line up of DJ’s .as well as Joe Bataan , Earth Wind and Fire , Kid Creole …and then there is my old punk heroes The damned and The Buzzcocks //but I also fancy a bit of 40’s in the Tanqueray Torch ….
Were you involved in the booking process?
Of course but I brought in a great team of knowledgeable curators to help… see http://www.vintageatgoodwood.com/curators/curators.aspx
You seem to be a very busy man – how do you get it all done?
Great team around me , long hours + the speed that comes from knowing about the subject matter and of course a family who are all working together on this.
Is it hard to switch off from work when you’re married to your business partner?
Don’t need to switch off… it’s us , it’s our life , it’s our hobby , our interest , our passion …it’s why we fell in love !!
You have a big birthday next year and still look great, what’s your grooming regime?
Running , family life + nice food + fresh fruit.
What makes you passionate about design?
Design can and should make life better ..simple as that.
What are you excited about in fashion at the moment?
Vintage… that fact that people havereally woken up to how sustainable it is to re use + upcycle
How do you relax?
Watching my youngest play cricket , running , family hols
Once the festival finishes this year and has been a runaway success, are you ready to start all over again for next year?
Ask me that on august 16th!
Thanks Wayne, enjoy the festival.
