In addition to what was shown on the designer catwalks, what the fashion editors, bloggers and buyers are wearing can be just as telling of future trends and current must-haves.
Compared to previous seasons, the outfit of choice for many was pared down and predominately black; perhaps to blend in and avoid the barrage of street style photo requests, or perhaps because black, teamed with camel or grey, is effortlessly stylish in a timeless way. I spotted plenty of capes, plenty of leggings (some with studs or spikes on!) and plenty of fail-safe black blazers too.
Where there is always a statement to be made though, is in the footwear department. Flats were still shunned for towering wedges, shoe boots and designer heels. Somerset House has cobbled courtyards, so those who chose tall wedges were pretty brave as, even though they are super-easy to walk in on even ground, cobblestones can cause even the veteran heel-wearers to wobble.
It wasn’t just the wedges though, details like tassels, retro fringing and fur or faux sheepskin trims were all out in abundance when it came to footwear. So that’s what the ladies of London have been wearing, but what about in your town? We’d love to hear all about the trends you’re spotting and where you’ve seen them.
