Your ‘new you’ to-do list for 2010

As we say goodbye to another decade many of us may be reflecting on the year just gone and looking forward to the new one.
It’s the perfect time to decide what you want to achieve in the future. I don’t like the idea of New Year’s resolutions as they tend to be forgotten soon after Big Ben’s bells have chimed, but that’s not to say you can’t re-evaluate your lifestyle and make some improvements. Here are some of our ideas…
Get fit and fabulous
After a lazy Christmas break, January is the time to start getting active again and, as the days get longer, being outside is much more fun. Whether it’s joining the gym, taking up a new sport or just walking more, being more active will do wonders for your body and your mood.
Pamper your skin
An unhealthy diet and winter weather can wreak havoc with your skin. If you want to look your best and combat signs of ageing then a good skincare routine is essential. Make a promise to replace old or poor quality products with the best you can afford as and when they run out. It’s far cheaper than trying to get everything in one go.
Dieting is so often destined to fail. Making better food choices and allowing yourself the occasional treat is definitely the way to go. Whenever you feel the need to reach for something unhealthy, try and find something better to swap it with. Instead of a glass of wine, try a vodka and soda with fresh lime. Instead of crisps try pretzels. The calorie and fat savings you make will all add up and help you to reach or maintain a healthy weight.
Get a hobby
Having a project to focus on which isn’t part of your day job can be really rewarding. A couple of years ago I started blogging and now I’m doing it for Debenhams. Think of the things you love to do and take time out to work on improving your skills, meeting people or simply having fun. You won’t regret it.
