AW15 LFW: Key Trends

While the warmer weather (finally) looks set to ‘spring’ into action, the fashion world is already focused on the next autumn/winter season. No surprise there, aren’t we fashion lovers supposed to be fickle? Yes as London hands over the Fashion Week baton to Milan, we thought we’d bring you up to speed with the looks we loved from our favourite shows – including our Designers at Debenhams, of course – as well as show you the top trends and key items we know you’ll come to covet. Just give it time…

In a nutshell, from gorgeous faux furs to rich jewel colours, next season is all about giving your wardrobe a touch of luxe. The SS15 seventies trend also looks set to continue, so at least we can tell ourselves our new 70s style whimsical purchases are actually sound investments. Liking the sound of this? Read on…

The SS15 seventies trend is still big news, but the autumn/winter girl is not your average hippie. Instead of simple boho touches, she favours sumptuous suede booties (yes, booties), intricate embroidery and printed silk gowns. Hippie is set to go haute for winter, with a free-spirited mood coming to the fore as an alternative evening option. So girl, prepare to say goodbye to your trusty LBD…

One word: Fur. Top of our wish list last year, we’re more than happy to welcome its return. Whether you add fluffy trims to sleeves or go all out with a shaggy coat, we guarantee fur will be your (very stylish) best friend. For a luxurious touch, we love it paired with lustrous satin and colourful jacquard – see Matthew Williamson for styling tips galore. Alternatively, take a more subtle approach by pairing a silk skirt with a fuzzy jumper, à la Jasper Conran.

Jewel Tones

Far from the bleak mid-winter, AW15 looks set to be anything but dull thanks to the abundance of rich jewel-inspired colours shining bright at the shows. Classic autumnal hues were given a glistening makeover with sapphire blue, emerald green and gleaming gold shining ahead and leading the way into the season ahead.
