Best Dressed of 2014: Part 1

2014 is coming to an end and a new year is just around the corner. In order to kick start a fashionable new year throughout the month of December we’re looking back at some of the best dressed of this year for a little style inspiration.

Our four part series showcases some of the most stylish stars of 2014 and is sure to have you excited for what 2015 has in store. We’re kicking off with a round-up of our favourite fashionistas from the first three months of the year – with fashion month and the Brit Awards both taking place, there was certainly plenty of style on offer. Take note…

Cast your minds back to January 2014, the month where you were hitting the gym everyday in a bid to stick to your new year’s resolutions, finding every excuse to buy more clothes in the post-christmas sales and embracing the new year in style. More importantly, the month of January plays host to the most glamorous event of the year- Couture Fashion Week.  The luxurious designer catwalks attract the fashion elite and is therefore a recipe for an extremely fashionable crowd.

Jennifer Lawrence burst onto the fashion scene when she was announced as the new face of Dior and wearing a monochrome dress by the fashion house she proved why. Meanwhile, Susie Bubble proved that casual doesn’t have to be boring with a more relaxed couture ensemble. Sporting jeweled trainers, a tulle skirt and chambray shirt we think she got the combination of smart-casual bang on.

Forget Valentines Day, February was the month of catwalk fashion. The high fashion bug continued from Couture Fashion Week with the start of fashion month. London, Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Week saw the street style stars wearing the latest trends at their best. As well as fashion weeks, the Brit Awards and Elle Style Awards also provided a platform for some of the best red carpet styles of the year.

During the polar vortex in New York the fashion elite showed us how to dress for the icy conditions. Faux fur has been our favourite trend this autumn/winter and Natalie Massenet showed us how to wear it back at the start of the year. We love how she styled a faux fur coat with an equally cool faux fur bag. While model, Rosie Huntington-Whitely proved that you can wear a mini length skirt on the red carpet in a glitzy number that meant all eyes were on her.

Fashion month drew to a close in March with Paris closing the show. The weather was still on the frosty side so it commanded leather trousers, sweatshirts and hats. The month of March also saw some of the most elegant red carpet looks of the year at The Oscars- and let’s not forget that infamous Oscars selfie.

We had to get a last minute fix of fashion week street style while we could. Candela Novembre showed us how to wear a suit in a more relaxed, casual way. She rocked up her classic grey trouser suit with natural hair and make up for a modern twist on the traditional outfit. On the other hand, actors and actresses upped the glamour ante at The Oscars. Hollywood newbie Lupita Nyongo looked the picture of elegance wearing a powder blue plunging dress at the star studded awards ceremony.
