Bye bye dry January: Cocktail recipes to try this February

Put down that non- alcoholic beer and pick up the tequila, it’s officially the end of dry January and we are going to celebrate in style with some colourful, creative cocktail concoctions. Stock your freezer full of ice, dust off your alcohol cupboard and polish your shaker because you’re in for a treat with these fruity flavours.

The dark and rainy

The very aptly named dark and rainy reminds us of the weather we are leaving behind as we step in to spring. We can drink away those rainy days with this twist on the classic whiskey sour but with the added boost of a dry red wine float. If this takes your fancy then combine Fresh lemon juice, demerara syrup, 1 egg white, Bourbon and Rye whiskey into a shaker and shake until the egg white emulsifies with the citrus. Add a scoop of ice and shake again until the drink is well chilled. Strain into your glass, top with wine and garnish with barrel bourbon bitters. Voila!

The bye bye dry Jan

Say farewell to dry January the proper way with a really alcoholic beverage, these watermelon margaritas will make you think the last five weeks were a dream. Simply mix watermelon puree, sugar syrup, tequila and lime juice together with ice, serve over ice with a slice of lime.

Blue Monday

We’ve given a whole new meaning to Blue Monday with this vibrant and refreshing gin-based cocktail. Say bye bye to your January blues and hello to lighter mornings and longer days. To make this cocktail simply add some empress gin (for the blue colour) lemon juice and orange bitters into a glass and shake. Pour over ice and serve with some blackberries.

Can’t wait for payday

Just looking at this pink drink makes us smile and we really need a good laugh. Its been a long five-week month and we’ve been patiently counting down the days until payday. Now its finally here we can celebrate with the creamy and delicious cocktail and blissfully drink our pennies away. To recreate this cocktail mix together creamy Irish whisky, mulled raspberries and Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur) with some ice. Serve with ice and raspberries for that picturesque finish.

Spring is definitely on its way in the form of this fruity plumb cocktail. Shake off that winter coat and embrace the changing weather while sipping on this botanical tipple. Muddle plum, sage and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker with whiskey, ice and shake.
